(San Diego, CA) Directors Lee Lanier and
Jeffrey Dates have announced the completion of “Day Off The Dead” with a sneak
peek at the 2003 SIGGRAPH computer graphics convention. “Day Off The Dead” is a visually daring 3D
short that follows Dead Guy and Dead Gal through their surreal adventures in
Deadsville. Hash (http://www.hash.com),
the makers of Animation Master, hosted a preview at their booth and at their
annual user group party; “The place went nuts”
said one animator, commenting on the packed party’s reaction to the
long-anticipated film. “Day Off The Dead’ was created on Animation Master as
part of collaboration of top animators spread out over North America. “Day Off The Dead” will make its European

Lee Lanier is an awarding-winning computer
animator and director known for his gritty, surreal, black-and-white
works. His previous films, “Mirror” and
“Millennium Bug,” have played dozens of festivals worldwide, and have been
featured at such prestigious venues as Sundance, the Ottawa International
Animation Festival, Smithsonian and Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Lee served as a Senior Animator on “Shrek”
and “Antz” at PDI/Dreamworks before forming his own company, BeezleBug Bit, in

About Jeffrey Dates
Jeffrey
Dates launched his animation career at ReelFX Creative Studios in 1997, and
quickly gained recognition for the award winning commercial work. He was soon promoted to Animation Director and
went on to perform FX for Robert Rodriquez's "Spy Kids 2,” as well as work
closely with famed childrens’ illustrator William Joyce on "The Man in the
Moon.” Looking for a challenge, Jeffrey
took on co-directing duties for “Day Off The Dead.” He recently parted from ReelFX and joined the Janimation Studios
team to complete FX for Robert Rodriquez's "Spy Kids 3-D". During this time, Jeffrey formed the
production entity KungFuKoi to work as a freelance creative producer in Dallas,
