Millennium Bug

Millennium Bug started life as a buncha' B+W photos snapped around the San Francisco waterfront one rainy Saturday...

The photos were printed as 5x7's and scanned onto a SGI O2. They were quickly altered with Photoshop for Unix...

3-D models were built, textured, and animated in Alias PowerAnimator...

The animations were then composited "into" the photos using proprietary 2-D software written by Pacific Data Images (the equivalent being, say, Wavefront Composer). Simulated shadows, artificial film grain and glitches, faked camera moves and the like were created at this point, adding a documentary film feel to the piece. That and about a 1000 man hours is all it took!
